Cutline

What this software is

Cutline is estimating and job-management software licensed on a monthly subscription by MZ Digital. The company using it is the owner of the business data it holds; MZ Digital operates and maintains the system.

Your data

Client records, estimates, costs, jobs and photos entered here belong to the subscribing company.
Data is stored with Google Firebase. Access is limited to the user accounts the company authorizes.
MZ Digital accesses the data only to provide technical support, fix a fault, or when required by law.
Your pricing, costs and margins are not shared with anyone, and are never used to benchmark or advise another customer.
On request, a copy of the company's data is provided in a standard format. After the subscription ends, data is retained for 60 days and then deleted.

Accounts and access

Accounts are created by MZ Digital at the owner's request. There is no public sign-up.
Each person uses their own account. Sharing a login makes the audit log meaningless, which is the point of having one.
Access levels are set outside the application, so no user of the system can remove the owner's access.
Report a lost or stolen device so the account can be disabled.

Estimates and pricing

Estimates produced here are documents of the subscribing company, not of MZ Digital. The company sets its own prices, terms and scope.
The system calculates a price from the costs and the profit target that the company enters. The accuracy of a price depends on the accuracy of the costs entered. Review an estimate before sending it.
Sales tax settings are the responsibility of the subscribing company and its accountant. The software applies the rate it is given; it does not determine what is taxable.
An estimate that has been sent cannot be edited. Changing a price creates a new revision, so both the company and the client can always tell which version is current.

Availability

The system is designed to keep working without an internet connection: client records, rates and a work-in-progress estimate are stored on the device. Finalizing an estimate requires a connection, so that its number is issued by the server and cannot collide with another device.

No guarantee of uninterrupted service is made. Faults are corrected as quickly as reasonably possible.

Limits

The software is provided as a business tool. MZ Digital is not liable for commercial decisions made using it, for lost profit, or for damages beyond the amount paid for the subscription in the preceding three months.

Subscription

The subscription is monthly and may be cancelled at any time.
Hosting and infrastructure are operated by MZ Digital.
Updates and fixes are included.
